Purtech offers a variety of 75’25 Chromium Carbide-Nickel Chromium coatings. Deposited utilizing Plasma or HVOF thermal spray technology, these coatings can provide excellent resistance to particle erosion and corrosion in a wide range of environments. They are recommended for severe abrasive and fretting wear applications in the temperature range of 1000-1500 degrees F.
Plasma flame spray applied materials have been widely accepted in the power industry to provide fireside erosion protection of boiler tube waterwalls and similar high temperature erosion applications. Typical areas of application include the interface of refractory materials and the bare tube. as well as. other areas where the normal flow across the tubes is disturbed. These coatings offer good resistance to low angle erosion as well as thermal shock. Relatively heavy coatings can be applied without spalling. Coatings can be applied robotically to OD’s. flat and irregular surfaces. and ID’s to 4”.
As is the case with most carbide materials, applying them using HVOF technology enhances coating properties over the plasma applied equivalent. Bond strength is greatly increased, and porosity is negligible. These carbide coatings exhibit much higher micro and macro hardness values, and can provide several times greater resistance to wear.
Typical applications include power generation and aircraft turbines, metal to metal sealing surfaces in ball valves, high pressure shutoff valves and other parts under conditions of high wear coupled with high temperature or aqueous corrosion.
The information provided is believed to be accurate, however actual coating properties may vary due to part geometry, preparation method, and other application and part constraints. No warrantee is expressed or implied.
